Saos Legend is a free to play MMORPG that you can play via your laptop or computer. The game is browser-based so you can play it immediately. No additional downloading is required. All that you need to do is register your details and you can start playing the game. Unlike other role playing video games, you cannot create your own character at the start of it. You just have to choose one of the four preset characters set out for you by the game itself. Two characters are males and they include the class types of a Swordsman and a Knight. The other two class types are female and include the Ranger and Priest.

When Sao’s Legend starts, you’ll know right away that the game is one of those automated RPGs. This means it’s one of those games where you have to just have to press only one button and everything is done for you. It’s a popular genre in the free to play market, although some can argue it lacks any type of control and engagement. Nevertheless, the game is still fun to play even though you don’t have to do much to control the characters. Most of the gameplay in Saos Legend is you having to do quests for the NPCs that populate the game world. You just go around talking to a lot of people until you set off and do your own quests. Unlike some RPGs, combat in this game is seamless. It doesn’t load up a separate screen for battle to occur.

Battles happen in the actual game world you are exploring so you will see a lot of enemies spawn up. Your character will just start spamming attacks, and the enemies (at the start of the game) are pretty useless and don’t fight back much at all. It has a system in place called “auto-battling”. It can be fun if you don’t like to do anything, but it can get boring just watching the character fight by itself without you doing too much. Visually, Sao’s Legend can get cluttered with a lot of pop-up messages and windows flooding the screen. Thankfully, you can turn off some windows, although the notifications still keep popping up when you level up or talk to an NPC. It can be overwhelming and it would have been better if this game had a cleaner looking HUD.

Graphically, the game looks great and the production values are credible throughout. The game has a loud yet satisfying soundtrack and you can hear the sound effects of combat. There are no voice-overs however and no cutscenes too. You just have to read the character dialogue in order to understand the story. The character models are pretty since it adopts an anime style design. Another unique aspect of Sao’s Legend is that you can attain a partner such as a girlfriend. Not only that, but you can get married in this game too. The partners don’t stop as you can also get a pet if you want to. The pet allows you to make travelling less tedious.

Sao’s Legend is not a terrible video game, but it’s kind of stale if you have played these types of games before. It doesn’t really add anything new to the table when it comes to design and gameplay. It’s still fun to play if you like this style of gameplay though.
