Clash of Avatars Review

Clash of Avatars is a 3D MMORPG game that is free to play. You can play the game directly on your browser so no prior download is required. All you need to do is sign up and you can start playing almost immediately. The first thing that you have to do in this game is create a character for yourself. Unlike other MMORPGs, this game only has preset characters for you to choose from so you cannot alter the appearance of your avatar sadly. As of the class types, there are three to choose from. You can be a Warrior, Mage or Priest with male and female characters to select from each class. It is a little boring that you cannot change the look of your character, but it doesn’t affect the gameplay. It’s just a minor niggle I have with the game.

After you have decided who you want to be, then the actual game starts. It starts off quite fast because it’s one of those best MMORPG games that have an auto-quest feature built in. This means your character will automatically start walking to the next area that they need to be in. It quickens the pace of the game as you can essentially just press one button and do nothing. It’s as if you are playing the game on autopilot. There is the quest info located on the right hand side of the screen and all you have to do is click there and your character will go to their next location. This is helpful in a way because you don’t need to check a map to see where you are going, but it also prevents the player from exploring the levels for themselves. These style of games are best suited for gamers that like to be in a hurry.

Anyway, even the combat is fast-paced as your character will start hacking and slashing whenever an enemy or enemies are nearby. You can set shortcuts at the bottom of the screen to execute other skills that your character may have. Some enemies may be weaker to certain skills more than others so it pays to look and see what you are up against at all times. To add a little variety to the combat, you can also recruit a pet that aids you in battle as well. The pet is really helpful when you have to eliminate a large number of baddies at one time. Normally you need to kill a list of the same enemy so having a pet saves you time.

Some things that I cannot stand about Clash of Avatars are just how cluttered and messy the HUD is. Every time you level up or get a new item, it blocks the entire screen even when you are in the middle of a fight. It keeps telling me to equip this item or armor and all I really want to do is look at the screen and see who my character is fighting against. It gets really annoying to play this game with all of the annoying pop-up messages cluttering the entire screen. This is a shame because the 3D graphics look really good. Usually browser-based video games are in 2D, so I was really impressed to see that Clash of Avatars has fully rendered 3D graphics. The character and monster design may look a little cliché, but this does not take away how decent looking the game really is.

The level design is also immaculate as you will be visiting many different and varied locations. This includes the likes of forests, ice caverns, dungeons and more. What makes the levels stand out is that a different piece of music plays in the background that perfectly sets the mood of the environment you are currently in. The audio overall is great too as the whole game has excellent production values.

Overall, Clash of Avatars is a really enjoyable free MMORPG game that has great visuals and audios. The gameplay might be similar to other games in the same genre, but it’s still fun nonetheless. It also has an easy learning curve so you don’t have to be an RPG veteran to have fun with this game. The only major thing I didn’t like about this game is that the annoying messages clutter the screen one too many times. Other than that, this game is worth checking out.
