MU Classic Game Review
MU Classic is a free to play browser-based MMORPG that you can play on the PC. It has 3D-style of graphics, and is played from an isometric viewpoint. It looks and plays like a lot of other MMORPGs out there. Does this game offer anything different from this genre? MU Classic’s 3D graphics might pose a problem for those that have a weak computer. When I tried to play the game for the first time, the loading times were brutally long and the game lagged far too many times. Other people may not have this problem, but I encountered a lot of technical issues during my playthrough of the game.
Before MU Classic officially begins, the game starts you off creating the type of character that you’d like to play as. There are many class types and this includes: Dark Knight, Fairy Elf, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Summoner and Rage Fighter. One disappointing thing about playing MU Classic is that you don’t have choice on customizing the look for your own main character. You are only left with the game’s own generic designs. This is not a big issue, but a little bit of variety and diversity would have been nice. Other MMORPGs allow players to change the look of their characters.
MU Classic is one of those MMORPGs that are mostly controlled on auto-pilot. You just keep clicking on the quest button and your character will automatically go in the next direction. This mechanic is great if you don’t want to run away getting lost, although it removes the aspect of exploration in my opinion. With the character moving by itself all of the time, it loses that feeling you get exploring a new location on your own.
MU Classic is pretty much a basic style of MMORPG at its core. Everything is too simplistic for my taste. The combat is also automated with your character just attacking on their own with no input from you whatsoever. You can choose some of the skills they have at the bottom of the screen, but most of the time you don’t have to touch anything. The quests also get a bit repetitive the more you play the game. There’s not much variety to the quests that I played. Most of them were just talking to a specific individual or just killing a certain number of enemies.
Another thing repetitive about MU Classic is sadly the soundtrack. The music just repeats over and over again to no end. The music is actually great to listen to for the first few times, but gets tiresome the more you hear it on a loop.
MU Classic truly shines in the visuals department. It’s a mix of both a 3D and 2D style of game. The blend of 3D and 2D graphics make MU Classic really stand out. It’s also great that the game is also browser-based so most people shouldn’t have any trouble trying to play this game. Only a few people with weak computer may experience some lag.
Overall, MU Classic keeps things basic and can be an enjoyable game for MMORPG fans. It’s not an entirely original game, but it plays well and looks great too. The auto-pilot style of gameplay might displease some, but it’s an easy game to play so you can progress pretty far if you persevere at it.
