Nova Genesis is a 2.5D fantasy-based free to play MMORPG that you can play online. The game is browser-based so you can play the game easily via Google Chrome or Firefox. All you need to do is log-in and register to play the game and you can start playing it instantly. The first thing that you have to do in Nova Genesis is to choose your own character. There are only six pre-made characters that you can choose from. It’s too bad you cannot customize the look of your own character like in other MMORPG video games. You can at least choose to play as either a male or female character. After you make your decision, the game starts loading up.

Nova Genesis has a unique graphical style as the game has both 2D and 3D elements to it. The character models look very pretty and the backdrops are stunning. There is the relaxing “town” tune, while the music becomes more dramatic as you enter battle. I liked the variety of music that is in the soundtrack. It’s better than in other games when the same piece of music gets played over and over again. The sound effects when you enter battle are cool too. It gives you the overall impression that you really are entering in a battle yourself.

In terms of the actual gameplay, Nova Genesis is one of those MMORPG video games that holds your hands too much. It’s one of those games were exploration is not required because it tells you where to go all of the time. You can also just click the link on the quest button and your character will just move to the next location automatically.



When you enter battle in Nova Genesis, the game shifts to the classic turned-based combat system that has been used on countless RPG video games. You and the enemy will take turns trying to kill each other. The combat is quite easy as you have many skills in your arsenal at the bottom of the screen. You can select which skill can do the most damage and the enemies will eventually die. There are also some other party members in your group too that can help you out during battle too.

The overall gameplay in Nova Genesis is not revolutionary in any way. Most of the quests require you to enter a dungeon and defeat all of the enemies along the way. The dungeons themselves aren’t hard to navigate as the game always has a big arrow pointing towards the direction you have to go to. You can collect some items along the way that are just conveniently placed on the ground for you to pick up.

What to expect from Nova Genesis

Overall, Nova Genesis is a pretty looking browser game with high production values. The gameplay itself is where it falls short a bit. The game is too easy for hardcore MMPROG fans to get truly invested in. The lack of true exploration and automated style of travelling will put off some gamers. However, the game is still fun to play if you can bypass how simple and easy it is.
