Smite Review

Smite is free to play 3D MOBA video game developed by Hi-Rez Studios. The game had been in beta for many years, but finally got released officially in 2014. The game is said to be released sometime later this year for the Xbox One as well.

Smite is not a browser-based game however, as you need to download the game and install it before you can have fun. You need at least 2GB of RAM and 10GB on your hard drive. The recommended specs are similar, although you need 4GB of RAM and a better video card. The specs aren’t too bad, but you may need to upgrade your computer if you have an older rig.

The best thing about Smite is the huge number of Gods that you are able to play as. Most of the Gods are not playable for you at the beginning, but there is a variety of different characters for you to choose from. Smite has similar designs to World of Warcraft in terms of character models, but they all have a cool cartoon-look to them. Some of the famous Gods you might encounter in Smite include Thor, Zeus Cupid and more.

It’s also great that Smite also has Gods from many different cultures. Gods from Chinese, Egyptian, Greek Hindu, Mayan, Norse and Roman mythology are all here. The Gods include a mix of male, female and even monster-like characters. There should be someone in Smite that you might take a liking to. The variety of choices you have in this game is very impressive.

At its core, Smite is a basic 5-on-5 battle arena video game. Unlike other MOBA style video games, the full 3D view of the character makes Smite look and feel more refreshing. The isometric viewpoint that other MOBA games use has been done too many times in my opinion. It’s great that this game offers a more action-style viewpoint like a 3D hack-n-slash title.

The maps in Smite are huge and there’s a lot you can explore. The game actually allows you to move around to analyze the level before an actual match starts. This is pretty generous and cool as you can see which areas are best to fight. The game never feels too crowded or cramped as the levels all offer a lot of room for you and your team to move around in.

The actual gameplay in Smite is addictive and easy to learn. The game doesn’t bombard you with complicated tutorials or anything like that. It’s also cool how you can dive into the action straight away too. This is unlike an RTS game where you have to construct or defend a building before you can let loose on the enemy yourself.

Combat is satisfying too as it feels like a MMO, but you can attack more freely. You can move around all of the time and use the mouse whenever you want to attack. At the bottom of the screen, you can also see all of the special moves that you have in your arsenal as well. The special moves look awesome and each attack looks different depending on the type of God you use.

The production values in Smite are highly commendable and excellent. Smite looks like World of Warcraft like I mentioned before. This is not a bad thing, as both games look pretty. The game also has meaty sound effects whenever you attack and good music always plays in the background. Smite is an excellent MOBA that is easy to play and very addictive. The game is full of great action from the start and has one of the most robust character selections ever seen in a video game. It’s also one of the prettiest looking free to play video games out there. If your PC can handle playing this game, I suggest you go out and download this game now.
