The game is browser-based so you don’t need a beefy computer in order to play it. All you need to do is log-in your details and the game will start loading onto your browser. The loading time is moderate, but not too lengthy at the start. After the game loads fully, it runs smoothly from then on. You can play the game on a truncated window, or expand it to a full screen.

Uptasia is set during a time that is not really represented in modern video games these days. It is set during the 19th century in the boom of the Industrial Revolution. This is when factories are starting to grow and villages were slowly becoming huge cities. The one thing I like about Uptasia is that it’s unlike any other game I have played in recent months. Most free to play games like this have you build up an empire so your army can infiltrate and conquer new lands. In Uptasia however, you are just trying to build up a successful business empire which is fun in itself.

The tutorial is quite helpful when you first play the game. The first thing you have to do is build yourself bakery. It takes several minutes for building to be completed, but it’s not as painfully long as in some other games. When you build your bakery, you can sell them bread to the villagers that will help you earn more money to expand your business empire.

As you progress in Uptasia, the more businesses you are able to build and the more money you will earn. It gets a lot more fun the richer you get and it’s cool to see how you can sell all of your goods to the customers that live around the area. If you love this type of genre, you can spend several hours building up your business here in this game.

An interesting side-quest that is included in Uptasia is a “hidden object” mini game that becomes available when you build a new business building. The game will show you several objects on the screen and you will have to find the right items in 60 seconds or so. You will be rewarded with helpful resources if you complete the mini-game successfully.

Graphically, Uptasia looks beautiful and really has a relaxing atmosphere to it. The illustrations are very detailed during the mini-game sessions and the towns are nicely populated and full of life. Not to mention this game also has a great soundtrack for you to listen to throughout. It’s one of the most peaceful games I have played in recent months. It goes to show you that not every game needs to be violent in order to be fun.

There are other games in this genre, but they mostly based on a farm. Uptasia’s different setting will please people that are sick of the numerous farm simulator clones out there. You do need a bit of patience to like games like these though as it takes a lot of time for you to build your businesses. For people that love action and violence, you are better suited finding something else to play.

Overall, Uptasia is a great and unique game that fans of economic simulators will certainly love. It has great graphics and gameplay that will charm its players. The added mini-games are a nice touch to the game too that prolong the fun. This is certainly worth checking out if you are a fan of this genre of gaming.
