Cloudstone Review

Genre: Adventure,Action, RPG, Fighting,Multiplayer The game starts off immediately with a brief introduction with a detailed comic book strip for you to read. After the formalities are out of the way, the tutorial begins when you get to control a warrior in the middle of his way fighting enemies inside of a dungeon. The games controls differ slightly from other action RPG video games. Most of the time you will be pointing and clicking to control your characters movements and attacks, although you can actually hold the mouse button to change their direction instantly. This was a helpful little in my opinion and it saved me from clicking on the map every single time I wanted to walk a different way.

After the brief tutorial level is over, its your turn to create your own character. If you love the look and design of Japanese anime, you will certainly like the characters that you can create and customize in Cloudstone. The cutesy appearance may not be to everyones taste, although I like the big eyes and cartoon style that this game portrays. If you are into RPG games that look more serious and realistic, I suggest you go play something else like Diablo or something of that sort. I must say that the customization options in this game are vast and addictive too. Although the amount of clothes and weapons are severely limited when you just begin the game, there are a ton of cool looking weapons and clothes you can give to your character once you start earning enough money for yourself. You can give them a whole range of clothing such as shirts, skirts, shorts and others. As for weapons, there is a selection of swords, knives, hammers, deadly gloves and shields too.

Cloudstone Gameplay

The best part of the entire game is that you can alter your characters appearance any time you wish. If you want to make your character have a different skin colour or even change their entire gender, you can do so in this game. This is a welcome change since in other games you can only have one appearance at one time and only alter their clothes and armor. The combat in this game is pretty straightforward and is nothing we havent seen in other likeminded action RPG video games before. Its still a point and click type of game where you just highlight an enemy and your character will start hacking away at them automatically. A slight variation of this is that you have skills where you can map as “hotkeys” that are more powerful attacks. These attacks usually allow you to kill multiple enemies at once which can be a lifesaver when they start to surround you all of the time.

You shouldnt underestimate the innocent appearance of the enemies in this game as the A.I. is surprisingly smart. In most action RPG video games, enemies are likely to ignore you unless you start attacking them or start walking very close to them. In Cloudstone however, the A.I. will advance upon you immediately when they see you. Not only that, but they are likely to team up with one another and will surround you all the time too. Needless to say, the enemies in this game look tougher than they actually look. If you are struggling to fight all of the enemies by yourself, you can always call on any friends you have to help you out all spend money on a pet too.

The game is quite hard I must say as the enemies get tougher each time that you enter a new level/dungeon. The dungeons usually require you to enter small rooms and kill a bunch of enemies or kill one big boss. To help you on your way, you can thankfully visit a special plant that can replenish your health and energy. That specific plant becomes crucial at times when all of the enemies are hounding you at one time. Despite the games impressive looking environments, I felt that the dungeons were kind of small for a game for this nature. Collecting gold becomes a crucial part since you have to spend it on weapons and armor to make you stronger. Because of the nature of the games extensive customization options, I made the mistake of spending all of the gold on pretty clothes for my character instead. If you want to avoid the same mistake that I did, make sure you spend gold on something more useful than pretty clothes. Once you reach level 8, you can also participate in PvP battles too. This also is a great way to test out your skills against real players and is another way players can earn experience points quickly. You can only face in one-on-one battles and its usually just a hacking contest at best. Still, theyre entertaining to watch with the games great 2D graphics.

What We like in Cloudstone

The music is also a nice tough added to this game too. The music fits the tone and atmosphere of the game perfectly and different music is played during varying parts of the game. You are unlikely going to listen to the same piece of music all of the time which should come as great news for gamers who usually play free to play video games. Cloudstone may appear to be a kids game, but dont let its appearance fool you. Its a very fun and deep action RPG video game that offers lots of quests and accessible and addictive gameplay. The graphics are also one of the best of its kind too which is impressive for a browser-based video game. It might be a challenging game at times, but Cloudstones high quality presentation is enough to make any gamer persevere through it.
