Professional wrestling is an industry that people either love or hate. There are people out there that like watching it much like any other TV show or movie while others disregard it immediately because they say its fake. Regardless of what your thoughts of it may be, the industry still remains to be popular with millions of people around the world. The Wrestling Game is one of if not the first ever strategy and management based professional wrestling game I have ever played. Having been a fan of professional wrestling since I was five years old, I have played pretty much every wrestling game under the sun. Most wrestling games are fighting style games which makes sense so The Wrestling Game came as a bit of a surprise when I first heard about it.

The Wrestling Game free to play and is text heavy. Being that this is a management style video game, you unfortunately will not see the theatrics that are often associated with huge wrestling companies although you will see some images and read about these features such as wrestlers entrances etc. The first thing you will do in this game is to come up for a creative name for your wrestler. Be sure to pick a name that hasnt been used before as the game does not allow you to have any duplicate names. I found it quite humorous that most players in the game were uncreative and used names of real wrestlers and just added a different number next to it.

Next up, you have to choose type of class you want your wrestler to be. The classes that are available include: Strength, Technique, Speed, Resistance and Balance. Make sure you choose a class that you are satisfied with as you cannot go back and choose another class once you have created your wrestler. The premise of The Wrestling Game is simple and your goal is what real wrestlers often aspire to achieve in their careers also. You start off as an unknown rookie that lacks skills and charisma. If you wish to win more matches and become a future World Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. The only way you can achieve this is by rigorously training your wrestler teaching him new moves that will enable to beat his opponents.

If you are not a hardcore wrestling fan, Id advise you to stay away from playing this game as the terminology that is used here will only be familiar to professional wrestling fans like me. You have to keep training your wrestler by giving him the right wrestling moves and build up his stats. If you are a big wrestling fan, you will have an advantage because youll know which moves will do the most damage inside the ring. Matches are text based and you can choose to read every detail of what happens in the span of 15 -20 minutes. The developers of this game did their research as most main event wrestling matches these days are 15 -20 minutes long. If youre feeling lazy, you can always press to skip to the match results and see who wins by scrolling down to the bottom. The great thing that has been added to this game this year is a 3D preview of the action. Its still under the testing phase; although its nice to actually witness the action unfold inside the ring than just imagine what happens by reading a bunch of text all the time.

The Wrestling Game is a long video game and you will need to level up and train for a significant amount of time before you can have access to more moves such as Finishing Move and even different match types just to name a few. Its a pretty lengthy video game that is sure to keep wrestling purists happy. The Wrestling Game is unique except for its name and to my knowledge is the only management style professional wrestling video game out there. Even THQs main WWE video games lack a management mode after they got rid of the GM Mode a couple of years ago to integrate it with the Universe Mode they have now. If you are a professional wrestling fan, you will enjoy this game a lot.
