Pirates Tide of Fortune Game Review

Pirates Tide of Fortune is a high quality free to play video game that you can play online via Facebook or Google Plus. The game loads pretty well depending on how powerful your computer is. I played the game on two computers and the game performed significantly better on my more powerful machine. Having said that, the loading times on the slower computer was not too slow, although the game does become unresponsive sometimes.

The game starts off immediately with a tutorial. I played the game via Facebook and my own profile picture was as an icon in the game. One of the first things I noticed about Pirates: Tide of Fortune was its high production values. The games graphics are top notch and its interface is easy to follow. Not to mention this game has full voice overs, music and sound effects. Not all free to play video games have all this so its nice to see them all present in Pirates: Tide of Fortune.

The soundtrack is something you might hear from every other Pirate-like video game or movie. It may repeat itself over and over again, but it is nice to hear a quality piece of music added to a free to play video game. Not all free to play video games adds sound effects of this quality so this is a nice touch.

Speaking of the graphics again, the 3D visuals are very realistic. Not only do the environments and buildings have a lot of detail on them, but the human character models working on the ground are life-like too. One of the best things about this game is that you can effortlessly switch to a fullscreen view whenever you want. Unlike with other games where you have to go to the main menu or pause the game to switch views.

The objective of the game is much like in every other RTS game. That is to breed life into your own civilization by collecting resources. By collecting resources, you can construct buildings you can then recruit workers to sustain your colony. You can even hire like-minded pirates to defend your colony from the many enemies around that are there to take your precious resources from you.

The voice acting in the game is also to be commended. Your guide talks humorously in a Pirate-likeaccent. You can choose for them to speak in a more refined accent if you find it hard to understand the unorthodox accent. You can even choose for them to speak other languages too depending on where in the world you come from.

Despite the games impressive visuals, the one thing that saddens me is that the game has no combat system. It is one of those RTS games where you can only order your troops and ships to attack your enemies. You unfortunately do not have any opportunities yourself to control combat or even get to witness all of the action either. This is a missed opportunity in my opinion as the games great graphics could have displayed naval combat brilliantly.

Another thing that may disappoint some people, is collecting resources can be very time consuming. There was one time that I needed to construct a particular building to move on to the next quest. I could not finish the quest because I needed to wait a whole 15 minutes until enough resources were acquired. It is this type of gameplay I feel that wonot appeal to every gamer out there.

Pirates: Tide of Fortune is a high quality RTS game. The visuals and presentation will immediately impress even the staunchest person. RTS gaming fans will love the gameplay here on offer as it is accessible and the games interface is very easy to navigate. Action fans are better off playing another game as Pirates: Tides of Fortune is strictly only for strategy purists. It starts at a slow pace, although the game can be addicting depending on how much hours you invest your time with the game.
