Golden Age
Golden Age Golden Age
What is different immediately about Golden Age compared to other
browser-based RPG games out there is that in between building your city and
forging an army you switch from your city to the side-scrolling area of Sanctum
City to accept quests from NPCs. Most games are simply focused on your city and
here with Sanctum City, Golden Age brings another dimension to its gameplay.
Before you start you have the
chance to choose your faction, choosing carefully will be important as each of
the three factions available have their own unique skills and offer different
things. For instance the Knights Templar will give you the chance to hire more
troops on a regular basis and offer higher attack power. Ibero Alliance will be
wanted if you prefer your city to have a strong defence. Rhine is for those of
you that prefer to produce more goods and earn more in trades.
At the beginning you also have
the chance to choose your starting area, a choice of four between Silver Beach,
Harp Lake, Laurel Creek and Emerald Woods. Each starting area has its own
starting level of population of which you can work with. Again, a nice touch
that enables you to have a little more influence on your gameplay.
Questing, particularly earlier
on happens fast and there are a lot of screens that you click through as you
follow arrows pointing you the right way. If there is a downside to this its
that it all happens a little too fast that you simply end up clicking where the
arrows tell you to and you dont really take in what is happening. Other than
that, it moves at a fast pace and before you know it your city is well and
truly on its way to being built.
As well as being able to build
armies, you also have the chance to hire heroes. These are important additions
to your army and are able to help you with running your city.
Golden Age is a typical RPG with
plenty of text for you to read and a lot of planning around what you want to be
doing next. Its going to appeal to the gamer that specifically enjoys the
genre as anyone who doesnt will find it a little too heavy going. It is a good
game and for a free-to-play browser has enough about it to keep you occupied
for a solid amount of time.
